Guru Nanak replied "On Bhai Mardana Ji! Repeat the Name of God, the Almighty; and drink the water to your heart's content."

The Guru put aside a big rock lying nearby and a pure fountain of water sprang up and began to flow endlessly. Bhai Mardana quenched his thirst and felt grateful to the Guru.

On the other hand, the fountain of Shah Wali Qandhari dried up. On witnessing this, the Wali in his rage threw a part of a mountain towards the Guru from the top of the hill. The Guru stopped the hurled rock with his hand leaving his hand print   in the rock 🌿🕊️🪷

मैंने सुना है, इजिप्त में एक आश्रम था। और उस आश्रम में आश्रम के नीचे ही मरघट था। जमीन को खोद कर नीचे मरघट बनाया था। हजारों वर्ष पुराना आश्रम था। मीलों तक नीचे जमीन खोद कर उन्होंने कब्रगाह बनाई हुई थी। जब कोई भिक्षु मर जाता, तो पत्थर उखाड? कर, उस नीचे के मरघट में डाल कर चट्टान बंद कर देते थे। एक बार एक भिक्षु मरा। लेकिन कुछ भूल हो गई। वह मरा नहीं था, सिर्फ बेहोश हुआ था। उसे मरघट में नीचे डाल दिया। चट्टान बंद हो गई। पांच-छह घंटे बाद उस मौत की दुनिया में उसकी आंखें खुलीं, वह होश में आ गया। उसकी मुसीबत हम सोच सकते हैं! सोच लें कि हम उसकी जगह हैं। वहां लाशें ही लाशें हैं सड़ती हुई, दुर्गंध, हड्डियां, कीड़े-मकोड़े, अंधकार, और उस भिक्षु को पता है कि जब तक अब और कोई ऊपर न मरे, तब तक चट्टान का द्वार न खुलेगा। और उसे यह भी पता है कि अब वह कितना ही चिल्लाए...चिल्लाया, जानते हुए भी चिल्लाया कि आवाज ऊपर तक नहीं पहुंचेगी...क्योंकि आश्रम मील भर दूर है। और मरघट पर तभी आते हैं आश्रम के लोग जब कोई मरता है। और बड़ी चट्टान से द्वार बंद है। फिर भी, जानते हुए... हम भी बहुत बार जानते हुए चिल्लाते हैं, जानते हुए कि आवाज नहीं पहुंचेगी। मंदिरों में लोग चिल्ला रहे हैं, जानते हुए कि आवाज कहीं भी नहीं पहुंचेगी। हम सब चिल्ला रहे हैं जानते हुए कि आवाज नहीं पहुंचेगी। आदमी जानते हुए भी चिल्लाए चला जाता है, जहां आशा नहीं है वहां भी आशा किए चला जाता है। वह आदमी बहुत चिल्लाया, चिल्लाया, उसका गला लग गया, आवाज निकलनी बंद हो गई। शायद हम सोचेंगे कि उस आदमी ने आत्महत्या कर ली होगी। लेकिन नहीं, उस आदमी ने आत्महत्या नहीं की। वह आदमी थोड़े-बहुत दिन नहीं, सात साल उस कब्र के भीतर जिंदा रहा। वह कैसे जिंदा रहा? उसने सड़ी हुई लाशों को खाना शुरू कर दिया। उसने कीड़े-मकोड़े, जो लाशों में पलते थे, उनको खाना शुरू कर दिया। मरघट की दीवालों से नालियों का जो पानी चूता था, वह चाट कर पीने लगा। इस प्रतीक्षा में कि कभी न कभी तो कोई मरेगा ही। द्वार तो खुलेगा ही। आज नहीं कल, कल नहीं परसों। कब सूरज उगता, उसे पता न चलता; कब रात आती, उसे पता न चलता। सात साल बाद कोई मरा, चट्टान उठाई गई, तो वह आदमी बाहर निकला। और वह खाली बाहर नहीं निकला। इजिप्त में रिवाज है कि मरने वाले आदमियों को नये कपड़े पहना दिए जाते और उनके साथ दो-चार कपड़े कीमती रख दिए जाते, कुछ पैसे-रुपये भी रख दिए जाते। तो उसने सब मुर्दों के कपड़े और पैसे इकट्ठे कर लिए थे, जब निकलेगा तो लेता चला जाएगा। तो वह एक बड़ी पोटली बांध कर कपड़े और एक बड़ी थैली में सब रुपये भर कर बाहर आया। उसे तो कोई पहचान ही नहीं सका, मरघट पर जो लोग आए थे वे तो घबड़ा कर भागने लगे कि वह कौन है! उसके बाल जमीन छूने लगे थे, उसकी आंखों की पलकें इतनी बड़ी हो गई थीं कि आंख नहीं खुलती थी। उसने कहा, भागते हो? पहचाने नहीं? मैं वही हूं जिसे तुम सात साल पहले नीचे डाल गए थे। उन्होंने कहा, लेकिन तुम जिंदा कैसे रहे? अगर छह घंटे बाद होश में भी आ गए थे तो बचे कैसे? तुमने आत्महत्या न कर ली! सात साल तुम इस मरघट में रहे कैसे? उस आदमी ने कहा, मरना इतना आसान तो नहीं है! मैं भी सोचता था। मैं भी यही सोचता, अगर कोई और उस मरघट में गिरा होता, तो मैं भी यही सोचता कि पागल, जीने की बजाय मर जाते! लेकिन अब मैं कह सकता हूं: मरना इतना आसान नहीं है। मैंने जीने की पूरी कोशिश की। और जीने के लिए मैंने जो भी किया है वह भी घबड़ाने वाला है। आज अगर फिर से सोचूं तो शायद न कर पाऊं। हम भी सोचेंगे कि वह आदमी कैसा आदमी रहा होगा! लेकिन वह आदमी ठीक हमारे जैसा आदमी था। हम भी उसकी जगह होते तो यही करते। और जिसे हम जिंदगी कह रहे हैं, क्या वह जिंदगी उस मरघट से बहुत भिन्न है? और जिसे हम भोजन कह रहे हैं, क्या वह उस मरघट में किए गए भोजन से बहुत भिन्न है? और जिसे हम कपड़े और रुपये का इकट्ठा करना कह रहे हैं, वह भी क्या मुर्दों से छीने गए रुपये और कपड़े नहीं हैं? बाप बूढ़ा हो गया हो, तो चाहे बच्चे कहें या न कहें, सोचते हैं कि विदा हो जाए। वे मुर्दे के कपड़े और पैसे छीनने के लिए उत्सुक हैं। राष्ट्रपति को शुभकामनाएं भी देते हैं लोग। उपराष्ट्रपति जन्मदिन पर जाकर फूलमालाएं भी चढ़ाते हैं और मन में भगवान से जाने-अनजाने प्रार्थना भी करते हैं: कब तक टिके रहिएगा? क्योंकि वे विदा हों तो उनकी मरी हुई कुर्सी किसी को, कोई उस पर सवार हो जाए। इसलिए दिल्ली में कोई मरता है, तो जो लोग चेहरे आंसू लिए हुए मरघट की तरफ ले जाते मालूम पड़ते हैं, वे ही तैयारी भी कर रहे होते हैं उसी वक्त कि कौन उसकी मरी हुई कुर्सी पर बैठ जाए। कहीं ऐसा न हो कि दूसरा बैठ जाए। बल्कि मरघट पर ले जाते वक्त भी इस बात की होड़ रहती है कि मुर्दे को सबसे पहले कौन हाथ दे रहा है, क्योंकि उसका कुर्सी पर कब्जा हो सकता है। मैंने सुना है कि गांधी मरे तो जिस टैंक पर चढ़ा कर उनको ले जाया गया था उस पर भी खड़े होने की प्रतियोगिता थी कि कौन-कौन नेता उस पर खड़े हो जाएं। क्योंकि दुनिया उनको देख ले कि वसीयतदार कौन है! यह जिसको हम जिंदगी कहते हैं, यह भी एक बड़ा मरघट है, जिसमें क्यू है मरने वालों का। कोई अभी मरेगा, कोई थोड़ी देर बाद, कोई फिर थोड़ी देर बाद, कोई कल, कोई परसों, लेकिन सब मरेंगे। और इसमें जो मकान हैं हमारे पास, वे मुर्दों से छीने गए हैं, और जो कपड़े हैं वे भी, और जो धन है वह भी। और यहां भी हम जी रहे हैं बिना किसी आनंद को जाने, बिना किसी शांति को पाए, लेकिन सिर्फ एक आशा में कि शायद कल शांति मिले, कल आनंद मिले, कल कुछ मिल जाए। तो कल तक तो जीने की कोशिश करो। किसी भी भांति कल तक जी लो। कल शायद कुछ मिल जाए। लेकिन मैं आपसे यह कहना चाहता हूं कि जो मरने के लिए तैयार नहीं है, उसे कभी कुछ न मिल सकेगा। और हम बहुत बार मरे हैं। लेकिन हम मरने से इतने भयभीत हैं कि मरने के बहुत पहले बेहोश हो जाते हैं। इसलिए हमें मृत्यु की कोई याद नहीं रह जाती। हम बहुत बार मरे हैं और बहुत बार जन्मे हैं, लेकिन हर बार मरने और जन्मने की क्रिया इतनी ज्यादा हमें डरा देती है कि हम बेहोशी में ही पैदा होते हैं और बेहोशी में ही मरते हैं। इसलिए उसकी मेमोरी, उसकी स्मृति नहीं बन पाती और गैप पड़ जाता है। इसलिए पिछले जन्म की भी स्मृति हमें नहीं रह जाती। पिछले जन्म की स्मृति न रह जाने का और कोई कारण नहीं है, पिछले जन्म की स्मृति न रह जाने का एक ही कारण है कि बीच में आई मृत्यु, और मृत्यु में हम इतने भयभीत हो गए कि बेहोश हो गए। और उस बेहोशी का जो अंतराल है, उसने स्मृति को दो हिस्सों में तोड़ दिया। पिछली स्मृति अलग टूट गई, यह स्मृति अलग टूट गई। इतना बड़ा बीच में गैप, अंतराल पड़ गया कि दोनों को जोड़ना मुश्किल है।

                “जिसकी जैसी भावना”

           एक बार एक सन्त कहीं प्रवचन दे रहे थे। अपने प्रवचन खत्म करते हुए उन्होंने आखिर में कहा–‘जागो, समय हाथ से निकला जा रहा है।’ सभा विसर्जित होने के बाद उन्होंने अपने शिष्य से कहा–‘चलो थोड़ी दूर घूम कर आते हैं। गुरु-शिष्य के साथ चल दिए। अभी वे पण्डाल के मुख्य दरवाजे तक ही पहुँचे थे कि एक किनारे रुक कर खड़े हो गए।

           प्रवचन सुनने आए लोग एक-एक कर बाहर निकल रहे थे। इसलिए भीड़-सी हो गई थी। अचानक उसमें से निकल कर एक स्त्री सन्त से मिलने आई। 

           औरत ने कहा–‘मैं नर्तकी हूँ। आज नगर सेठ के घर मेरे नृत्य का कार्यक्रम पहले से तय था, लेकिन मैं उसके बारे में भूल चुकी थी। आपने कहा, समय निकला जा रहा है तो मुझे तुरन्त इस बात की याद आई।’ उसके जाने के बाद एक डकैत सन्त की ओर आया।

           डकैत ने कहा–‘मैं आपसे कोई बात छिपाऊँगा नहीं। मैं भूल गया था कि आज मुझे एक जगह डाका डालने जाना था कि आपने कहा, समय निकला जा रहा है, यह सुनते ही मुझे अपनी योजना याद आ गई। बहुत-बहुत धन्यवाद आपका।’ उसके जाने के बाद धीरे-धीरे चलता हुआ एक बूढ़ा व्यक्ति सन्त के पास आया।

           वृद्ध ने कहा–‘जिन्दगी भर दुनियादारी की चीजों के पीछे भागता रहा। अब मौत का सामना करने का दिन नजदीक आता जा रहा है, तब मुझे लगता है कि सारी जिन्दगी यूँ ही बेकार हो गई। आपकी बातों से आज मेरी आँखें खुल गईं। आज से मैं अपने सारे दुनियारी का मोह छोड़कर भगवान् का भजन करना चाहता हूँ।’ 

           सबके जाने पर सन्त ने शिष्य से कहा–‘देखो प्रवचन मैंने एक ही दिया, लेकिन उसका मतलब सबने अलग-अलग निकाला। जिसकी जितनी झोली होती है, उतना ही दान वह समेट पाता है। भगवान् की प्राप्ति के लिए भी मन की झोली को उसके लायक होना होता है। इसके लिए मन का शुद्ध होना बहुत जरूरी है।

Ma Kali and Ma Anandmayi

"In 1930, a strange incident happened when Ma was staying for a short period at Cox Bazaar (now in Bangladesh) which was far away from Dhaka. Ma behaved strangely in one night when She began twisting Her own hand with the other and said She was going to break it. However, Ma was stopped doing-so by devotees  forcefully, holding Her hand firmly. Though a divine smile flitted on Her face, Her eyes were full of tears. The whole night Ma was in a strange condition. Few days later, a letter was received written by Bhaiji from Dhaka, which revealed that a thief had broken into the temple of Ramna Ashram and had stolen a gold ornaments with breaking one hand of the murti of Ma Kali. It was found that it all happened at the same moment, when Ma intended to break her hand exactly at the same point where Ma Kali's hand was broken. Later, when restoration of the broken hand was taken up by using some clay, Ma contributed few drops of her blood to be mixed in that clay. It was one of the many unique  incidents revealing again that MA and Kali were the same."

Disciple: What ideal should we follow now?

Swamiji: You have now to make the character of Mahavira your ideal. See how at the command of Ramachandra he crossed the ocean. He had no care for life or death! 

He was a perfect master of his senses and wonderfully sagacious. You have now to build your life on this great ideal of personal service. Through that, all other ideals will gradually manifest in life. Obedience to the Guru without questioning, and strict observance of Brahmacharya -- this is the secret of success. 

As on the one hand Hanuman represent the ideal of service, so on the other hand he represents leonine courage, striking the whole world with awe. He has not the least hesitation in sacrificing his life for the good of Rama. A supreme indifference to everything except the service of Rama, even to the attainment of the status of Brahma and Shiva, the great World-gods! 

Only the carrying out of Shri Rama's best is the one vow of this life! Such whole-hearted devotion is wanted. 

Playing on the Khol and Kartal and dancing in the frenzy of Kirtana has degenerated the whole people. They are, in the first place, a race of dyspeptics -- and if in addition to this they dance and jump in that way, how can they bear the strain? In trying to imitate the highest Sadhana, the preliminary qualification for which is absolute purity, they have been swallowed in dire Tamas. In every district and village you may visit, you will find only the sound of the Khol and Kartal! Are not drums made in the country? Are not trumpets and kettle-drums available in India? Make the boys hear the deep-toned sound of these instruments. Hearing from boyhood the sound of these effeminate forms of music and listening to the kirtana, the country is well-nigh converted into a country of women. What more degradation can you expect? Even the poet's imagination fails to draw this picture! 

The Damaru and horn have to be sounded, drums are to be beaten so as to raise the deep and martial notes, and with "Mahavira, Mahavira" on your lips and shouting "Hara, Hara, Vyom, Vyom", the quarters are to be reverberated. The music which awakens only the softer feelings of man is to be stopped now for some time. Stopping the light tunes such as Kheal and Tappa for some time, the people are to be accustomed to hear the Dhrupad music. Through the thunder-roll of the dignified Vedic hymns, life is to be brought back into the country. 

In everything the austere spirit of heroic manhood is to be revived. In following such an ideal lies the good of the people and the country. If you can build your character after such an ideal, then a thousand others will follow. But take care that you do not swerve an inch from the ideal. Never lose heart. In eating, dressing, or lying, in singing or playing, in enjoyment or disease, always manifest the highest moral courage. Then only will you attain the grace of Mahashakti, the Divine Mother.

Kakabhushundi is depicted as a devotee of Rama, who narrates the story of the Ramayana to Garuda in the form of a crow. He is described to be one of the Chiranjivis, an immortal being in Hinduism who is to remain alive on earth until the end of the current Kali Yuga.

Each time a different outcome

The first was an outcome where Dasaratha never took the divine nectar and remained Childless and died at the hands of Ravana and Ayodhya was broken to pieces

Another was Ravana being assassinated by his own son Meghanadh

Another was Laxman dying and Rama losing heart in the battle

Another was Bali killing Sugriva

Another was Ravanas son Mahiravana sacrificing Laxman to a Goddess and the Goddess angered burning down Lanka

Each time Kakbhushubdi flew in circles from the beginning to the end and each time he flew back to a new version of Ramayan. 

Ma Anandmayi and Sri Udiya Baba

"Sri Udiya Baba was a realized saint of great fame Northern part of India. Udiya Baba was guru of Haribaba and Avadhootji. They  often stayed at Vrindavan in Udiya Baba’s ashram. In 40's when Ma Anandmanyi ( MA) would visit vrindavan, Uriya baba would look situations around her from distance and criticize her. He would say "Who is this woman in white clothes that people are going crazy about?! She is not even a saint. She is not wearing safron, just a white saree!" One day when Ma was in Vrindavan She asked Nirmalananda to get a rickshaw and told him to take Her to Udiya baba's ashram! They went. On reaching the ashram they saw a huge crowd and Baba was giving some discourse in the hall and ladies were sitting on one side and the men on the other side as is usually done. Ma covered Her head with saree right upto Her stomach in Ghunghat style. (Ladies in olden days were supposed to do the Ghunghat and not show their faces to the males.) She went and sat in the female section in the crowd and asked Nirmalda to go and sit in the male section in the crowd, on the floor. When the discourse got over all went to do pranam to Udiya baba, some with flowers, some with garlands. Ma stood in line and when Her turn came, she went to him with Her Ghunghat till Her tummy and extended just Her two hands towards him as if to let him hold both of them! The moment he saw the two hands, he screamed-"These are the hands of the Jagat Janani!" Saying this Ma immediately removed Her Saree, looked at him and burst out in her very loud laughter. Later Udiya Baba revealed that previously he had seen in his vision this hands. So he immediately recognized the hands of the Jagat Janani. 

Thereafter Ma often visited his ashram to attend satsangs and ‘Raslila’ there. Udiya Baba had great affection and devotion towards Ma. Once, in presence of mahatmas, Udiya Baba caught hold of Ma’s hand in great emotion and with tears, he said — "Ma, I failed to recognize you.” At Vrindavan, Many times, when Udiya Baba was ill he would not leave Ma and would demand her presence by his sickbed.  Ma had given a hint to Gurupriya didi that Udiya Baba's demise was close. Soon after, Udiya Baba suddenly met with an accident in his ashram and passed away. Ma was present during Babaji’s ‘phandara’ (feast) and other functions of his mahasamadhi."

 

There are many divine and miraculous stories between the two of them. One time also, After Uriya Babas demise, years later, Haribaba was in his deathbed. MA revealed that Uriya Baba came to her in astral body  and asked her saving Haribaba. -"He shouldn't die, he has lot to do. Save him" Haribaba was definitely saved and his visions about MA  during those  sick days are whole other divine story.

Ramlala - The Divine Child

About the year 1864 there came to Dakshineswar a wandering Vaishnava monk, Jatadhari, whose Ideal Deity was Rama. He always carried with him a small metal image of the Deity, which he called by the endearing name of Ramlala, the Boy Rama. Toward this little image he displayed the tender affection of Kausalya for her divine Son, Rama.

Sri Ramakrishna, much impressed with his devotion, requested Jatadhari to spend a few days at Dakshineswar. Soon Ramlala became the favourite companion of Sri Ramakrishna too. Later on he described to the devotees how the little image would dance gracefully before him, jump on his back, insist on being taken in his arms, run to the fields in the sun, pluck flowers from the bushes, and play pranks like a naughty boy. A very sweet relationship sprang up between him and Ramlala, for whom he felt the love of a mother.

One day Jatadhari requested Sri Ramakrishna to keep the image and bade him adieu with tearful eyes. He declared that Ramlala had fulfilled his innermost prayer and that he now had no more need of formal worship. A few days later Sri Ramakrishna was blessed through Ramlala with a vision of Ramachandra, whereby he realized that the Rama of the Ramayana, the son of Dasaratha, pervades the whole universe as Spirit and Consciousness; that He is its Creator, Sustainer, and Destroyer; that, in still another aspect, He is the transcendental Brahman, without form, attribute, or name.

While worshipping Ramlala as the Divine Child, Sri Ramakrishna's heart became filled with motherly tenderness, and he began to regard himself as a woman. His speech and gestures changed. During this time he worshipped the Divine Mother as Her companion or handmaid.
